Week 4

Base Model Render

Base Grasshopper

This Grasshopper creates the above model that shows how a facade is created out of a series of shapes, is affected by a point which represents the sun.  Shapes appear smaller when the point is near and vice versa.

Week 3

Zaha Hadid Architects | Burnham Pavilion |
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EACBjZzYNyw&feature=related

This project by Zaha Hadid gave me great inspiration as it relevant to my concept of the relationship between people and the buildings they enter. When people enter Zaha Hadid's building, the building changes colour as emotion and mood changes.

The relationship between the proximity of the sun to a surface and how the buildings changes is a concept i would like to explore in my own project. As the sun follows a path, the building changes shape, to either let more or less light into the building.

Extra Images

This image concentrates on aspects of aesthetics that i wish to incorporate into my building. This building is essentially a greenhouse that allows photosynthesis to occur to the plants by letting light in. It is the amount of light that is let in that determines the colour and health of the plant.

This image inspires my thoughts on the aesthetics of the building, which I thought it may look similar to the plant image I posted in week 2

Week 2

3 Images

Plant
source: http://cache2.artprintimages.com/p/SML/26/2686/VBWUD00Z/art-print/george-f-mobley-a-giant-lobelia-plant.jpg
The pattern from the plant creates an interesting theme. How the plant works as the sunlight reacts to the pigmentation of each leaf and photosynthesis, affects the way each leaf sprouts out from the central point.
The picture explores the concept of how an object is affected by sunlight (point).

Water

This image depicts the relationship between sunlight and water and the patterns that form as a result of it. This image particular shows how water can be of any form and its ability to be adapt into forms depending on how it is contained. When sunlight penetrates water, a shimmering pattern is formed as seen in this image.
Shell

This shell explores how patterns can be found and shaped in natural forms. This shell in particular creates a spiral that increases in length and contains curved patterns within it.
